“Good Morning, Ma’am. We’re here looking for your son.”
Tam made a promise to her sons long ago that if they were ever falsely accused of a crime, she would go to bat for them until she breathed her last breath. With this promise in mind, armed with her faith in God, Tam set out on a journey to exonerate her son. (See the TV News story below.)
Her book and speaking platform are Tam’s way of giving back. Her book Mother of the Accused: A Christian Woman’s Guide to Fighting for Faith & Family is written to encourage and give simple, yet complex, answers to any challenges we face and how we can have victory with a practical application of the Scriptures.
Tam speaks at many venues to share her story of courage and to help with strategies and practical answers in coming against the U.S. Criminal Justice system. It is her pleasure to help as many families as possible, one family at a time, experience the freedom and exoneration of a falsely accused loved one.
PFC Steven A. McDowell was falsely accused in June of 2016 on two felony burglary charges in the city of Huntsville, Alabama. In January 2017 he was arrested and could have potentially spent 20+ years in prison. On January 30th, Steven’s mother presented clear cut evidence to the Police and D.A. in this case to show that Steven was NOT the suspect in surveillance videos of the crime scenes. They chose to move ahead with an indictment, despite this evidence. That’s when I (Mom) kicked into gear and began using social media and the law to fight his case. It was only fitting to garner public support so I reached out to the media and only WHNT News 19 answered my plea for help. It was my mission that not only would my son be exonerated from these false charges, but also that he would not even stand trial. God is faithful and heard my cry!
